Aussie students shine at the 2nd Annual FedEx International Trade Challenge with our Victoria and NSW teams taking out 2nd and 3rd place.
The teams represented Young Achievement Australia at the 2008 FedEx International Trade Challenge in Kuala Lumpur from 29 July to 1st August, a competition aimed at nuturing the entrepreneurial spirit and business skills of students in the Asia-Pacific region. The Challenge, which is in its second year, attracted a total of 18 teams, comprising three teams of two students from Australia, Hong Kong, Japan, Malaysia, South Korea and Singapore. The winning teams were selected based on two main criteria; content and presentation. They were scored on their thoroughness, creativity and professionalism in developing and executing their business plan, and their team members' demonstration of key business traits, such as teamwork, leadership, communication and public speaking. Australia's third team made up of Kiera Blaney and Lisa Cheeseman from Coffs Harbour were ranked in the top six teams at the Trade Challenge. "The FedEx International Trade Challenge gives students a better understanding of the four cornerstones of international trade - clear goals, market knowledge, cross cultural communication skills and the passion to excel" said Pam Smith, CEO of Young Achievement Australia.
