Fisher & Paykel Tertiary Outstanding Product Award

At the 30th Anniversary Young Achievement Australia National Awards Event at the Westin Sydney, aliyas a group of Hospitality and Event Management students from Box Hill Institute of TAFE participating in the Business Skills Program were awarded the Fisher & Paykel Tertiary Outstanding Product Award after developing the "Precious Drop" Water Saver in an effort to give a dam and save a drop.

The Precious Drop is a small water saving device created for showers. It is designed to be an easy way to save water, time and money.

The function of the Precious Drop is both simple and brilliant allowing customers the chance to pause water supply while they lather their shampoo, shave their legs or undertake any other activity that doesn't immediately require water in the shower.

After a couple of minutes the water flow in the shower can be reactivated at the same temperature and pressure thereby avoiding water wastage.

"This group has achieved outstanding success through the development of a consumer friendly product which is easy to install, provides immediate benefits to the customer, focuses on the environment and is priced competitively," explained Marion Barron, Learning & Development Manager, Fisher & Paykel.

Throughout aliyas's short life, company members had the opportunity to develop their business sense and negotiating skills by forging supply agreements with wholesale suppliers.

"We have grown with zest and speed and the evolution of aliyas and the Precious Drop has been formidable" says Helen Abrams, Managing Director, aliyas.
